Youth Swim Lessons

Beginner Ages 6 & Up
Polliwogs
become acquainted with the pool, use of floatation devices and floating. Children will learn to paddle 25 yards with a float and 20 feet on their front, back, and side without the float. They should feel comfortable in deep water.

Advanced Beginner Ages 6 & up
Guppies
will perform more skills without the aid of floatation devices. They are introduced to lead-up strokes to front and back crawl, sidestroke, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke as well as some diving skills. Children will swim a length of the pool without assistance at the completion of this level.

Intermediate Ages 6 & Up
Minnow
skills become more like those normally used in swimming. Swimmers learn more swimming, diving, personal safety, and rescue skills.

Intermediate Ages 6 & Up
Fish
work to perform the crawl stroke, elementary backstroke, back crawl stroke, and sidestroke, all with turns. Introduced to the butterfly stroke and the use of mask and fins.

Advanced level Youth
Flying
Fish work on improving what they learned as Fish.
